Grade 3/4 Beechworth Excursion
15/6/2018
During term two the 3/4 unit has been taking a look at our local history, with a particular focus on bushrangers. After sharing their varied projects with the school community as part of Education week all 5 classes took an excursion to Beechworth where they delved further into the regions history and learned more about the Kelly Gang.
Split into 4 groups the 3/4s were hosted at the Bourke Museum, The Kelly Vault, The Telegraph Station and The Beechworth Courthouse. At the courthouse students were given roles to play in a re-enactment of Ned Kelly's trial which was held in the Beechworth Courthouse after the police shooting at Stringy Bark Creek in 1880. The students came away from the experience with a greater understanding of our local history, inspired, happy and a probably more than a little tired. |
