Walk to School - October 2017
20/9/2017
WIN PRIZES FOR YOUR SCHOOL!! Did you know that you can win prizes just for walking, riding or scooting to and from school? By participating in "VicHealth's Walk to School" this October, you could help your school win a regional school prize. Schools with the highest participation levels are eligible so every time a child walks, rides or scoots to and from school during October, they increase your school’s chance of winning! It’s a great way to help students learn healthy habits and achieve the recommended 60 minutes of physical activity, every day. It also encourages primary schools, local councils and communities to make active travel easy, safe and accessible. Along with the health benefits, walking to school has benefits for the whole community. It reduces traffic congestion, saves on parking, helps us connect with family and friends and even saves the environment! Last year, 758 primary schools across Victoria took part in Walk to School, with 144,928 primary kids recording more than 2.2 million walks, rides and scoots throughout October. I know that it has been years since the competition was held, but I just want to remind the contestants of "VicHealth's Walk to School" that they did a god job. Aside from the fact that they have proven something to themselves, they were able to help in saving Mother Earth. It is a good thing that we are teaching kids on how they can be part of such important event while they are learning. That's a good thing because we can see that they are doing not just a good thing but a great one for our nature! Comments are closed.
